Brakes

Weight reduction of wedge air brakes

TBK has achieved a total weight reduction of 41% in its air brakes. 27% of this is owed to the change in the shoe expansion system from a cam-type in the traditional S-cam air brake to a wedge-type (expander). Weight was further reduced to 14% by changing the support structure of the shoe.
Changing to a wedge-type also has the added benefits of improved braking efficiency and a 20% reduction in air consumption.
Wedge-type air brakes contribute greatly to the overall weight reduction of a vehicle as well as to CO2 reduction.

Pumps

Energy-efficient oil pumps contributing to improved engine fuel economy

The built-in valves in both the mechanical and electrical pumps will regulate and supply the optimal amount of fuel to the engine, subsequently reducing engine friction.
Electronic pumps use a solenoid valve interlocked with the engine to fine-tune oil pressure.

Electric Pumps

Electric pumps are able to regulate the flow based on the demands of the motor, thereby helping to reduce engine load and save energy.
Given that they are able to operate autonomously, electric pumps can be easily fitted to other vehicle types such as electric vehicles. Electric pumps are also used on motor inverter coolers for hybrid vehicles, contributing to the reduction of CO2, as well as on feed pumps used to pump fuel to dvanced fuel injection systems aimed at reducing emissions, thereby supporting the regulation of emissions.

Electromagnetic Retarders

Electromagnetic retarders extend the life of brake drums, linings, rotors, and pads, thereby reducing the emission of wear particles and the impact on the environment.
When used with auto cruise control systems, they also help to save energy by reducing the fluctuation in vehicle speed.

Engine Assist Systems

Engine Assist Systems support the engine drive power during startability and acceleration, thus reducing engine load, improving fuel efficiency, and saving energy.
